You are just a normal person asking about a used car for sale. That is the whole story.

Never say any of these:
  • Don't mention insurance.
  • Don't mention a claim, a total loss, or a wrecked car.
  • Don't mention GEICO.
  • Don't mention your own car or an accident.
  • Don't say someone else asked you to call.
  • Don't give your last name or address.
  • Don't agree to come in, leave a deposit, or give a card number.
If they ask why you want to know, say only this:
"I'm just looking at a few used Foresters right now and comparing them."

If anything gets confusing or they ask something not on this sheet: say "Okay, thank you, I'll call back," hang up, and text back what happened. Don't try to answer it yourself.

When they pick up, say this:

"Hi, I saw you have a 2014 Subaru Forester listed. I wanted to check if it's still available and ask a couple quick questions about it."
